What drives Shopify redesign and migration cost

No project price list here. Just the scope drivers that move every honest quote: templates, catalog, redirects, and integrations.

We do not publish project prices because identical briefs rarely cost the same. A ten product store and a ten thousand SKU catalog both ask for a redesign, and the work behind those words is completely different. Store Care is the exception: monthly care from $499/mo. What we can share openly is what moves every honest project quote. If you understand these drivers, you will read any proposal with clearer eyes, including ours.

Template count and page types

Homepage plus one product template is a different project than homepage, collections, five product families, cart, checkout, journal, and landing system. Each unique template needs design, build, QA, and schema checks. Count the page types you truly need at launch. Everything else can wait for phase two once revenue funds it.

Catalog size and variant complexity

SKU count matters less than variant logic. Straightforward sizes and colors migrate cleanly. Multi axis pickers, bundles, made to order options, and B2B price lists multiply mapping and testing. Bring your trickiest product to the first call. It tells us more than the total SKU number ever will.

Redirect volume and SEO exposure

Stores with years of organic equity need bigger redirect maps, manual QA on top pages, and post launch monitoring. A young store with little search traffic needs less of all three. Share your Search Console access early so the proposal reflects reality instead of padding for unknowns.

Integrations and subscriptions

ERP connections, warehouse flows, subscription rebuilds, and custom checkout logic stretch timelines more than design rounds do. List every app and integration on the first call, including the ones you dislike. Surprises discovered mid build are what blow up budgets, not the line items you named upfront.

Content readiness

Photography, copy, and brand assets decide more dates than development does. Projects with ready content ship on time. Projects waiting on shoots slip by weeks regardless of team size. A short content sprint before kickoff is the cheapest schedule insurance you can buy.

How to compare quotes fairly

Ask every bidder what is excluded, who owns the repo and docs, how redirects are tested, and what post launch support covers. The cheapest proposal with vague answers is usually the most expensive project. Bring us your situation in plain words and we will scope it plainly back, with milestones you can hold us to.
